Gummy Smile Correction (Non Surgical).
Let us understand first why few people have gummy
Smile.
Well, our Face is vertically divided in three parts.
1. From
Hair Line to Glabella (point between two eyes).
2. From
glabella to sub nasale (where tip of the nose gets over).
3. From
sub nasale to chin.
Well in most of the cases middle portion
of face is bigger. (Ideally they all should be of same size) for better out
looks. Which is also called as Vertical Maxillary Excess. Well whenever we have
vertical Maxillary Excess Gummy smile is common problem. As natural feed back
mechanism one try to hide gummy smile and end up developing hyperactive
mentalis or chin muscle. Which is usually habitual problem for patients
One of the most promising procedure for such
problem is Orthognathic Surgery which is also named as Jaw Correction surgery.
As it is Major Surgery most of the patients get scared or not willing for
surgery.
One more way to Inject Botulinum Toxin Type –A in Caninus muscle. Which gives free fall of
lip over teeth & gums also injecting Botox into Chin Muscles will stops its
hyperactivity . Due to habitual habit of closing lips chin muscles gets
overdeveloped & very prominent. With the help of Botox it looks normal. Lip
length & shape can be well developed with hyaluronic Acid based Dermal
Filler. In following case who is just 24-25 years Indian , Mumbai based Boy
having Gummy smile on thorough evaluation by Dr. Vaibhav Shah it is been
diagnosed as case of Vertical Maxillary Excess. As patient was keen for Non
Surgical Treatment of Gummy Smile Dr. Shah performed Botox for Lips & Chin
muscle (Mentalis Muscle). Lip Re-Shaping & Rejuvenation is done with
Hyaluronic Acid Based Dermal Filler.
Right Side is Before Treatment
& left side is after Treatment.
On left side picture small teeth ,
Hyperactive Mentalis is very much visible. Lips are incompetent i.e not meeting
each other. In Right side picture one can see competence of lip , No
hyperactive Mentalis or Chin Muscles. Boy Looks much more Younger & got his Beautiful smile back.
